But what is else there to know about Brazil?! ... Recently, I read a very interesting article in The Wall Street Journal ... and I can't help but write about it ... didn't realize that there's so much to know about this wonderful country ...
- One of the top 10 largest oil reserves in the world (Tupi Field) and world leader in deep-water petroleum exploration
- World's leading exporter of iron, coffee, soy, soybeans, orange juice, beef, chicken, sugar and ethanol
- Global reference in the production of biofuels
- World's seventh-largest manufacturer of automobiles
- World's fourth largest manufacturer of airplanes and leading manufacturer of regional jets (up to 120 seats)
- World's largest river basin, with hydroelectric power supplying 73% of energy needs.
- International Environmental Agreements: antarctic-Environmental Protocol, Antarctic-Marine Living Resources, Antarctic Seals, Antarctic Treaty, Biodiversity, Climate Change, Climate Change - Kyoto Protocol, among others
- Leader in renewable and clean energy : 44% of energy derived from renewable sources vs. the world average of 14%
- Brazil has 388 million hectares of highly productive arable land. 90 million of which have yet to be farmed
- In 2008, Brazil exported more than 1,500 different products to foreign markets
- With the largest commercial cattle herd in the world. Brazil is also the third-largest producer of both poultry and pork
- Brazil has the greatest biological diversity in the world with close to 20% of all species on the planet and 12% of all the planet's fresh water.
